NYANGA PROJECT August 2014.

The South African Department of Human Settlements in collaboration with the National Home Builders Registration Council (NHBRC) invited Kavango Block Brick to construct a KBB concept house for a well deserving bedridden resident of Nyanga East near Cape Town South Africa. With a handful of Namibian KBB artisans, Heinrich Schroeder the founding member and innovator behind the KBB building methodology took on the task of constructing a 60m² two bedroom house in Nyanga East. Plans were drawn up by the architectural division of the NHBRC and slightly adapted to incorporate the parameters of the KBB building system. The house was handed over to the deserving resident on the 6th of August 2014 by the Deputy Minister of Human Settlements Honourable Zou Kota Fredericks.

2014 GOVAN MBEKI AWARDS

Founding member of Kavango Block Brick Heinrich Schroeder attended the 2014 Govan Mbeki awards ceremony on the 14th of August 2014 at the Sandton Convention Centre Johannesburg South Africa.

DEPARTMENT HUMAN SETTLEMENTS HOUSING INDABA

Kavango Block Brick was invited by the Honourable Minister of Human Settlements Lindiwe Sisulu to attend the two day INDABA housing conference held at the Sandton Convention Centre Johannesburg between the 16th and 17th of October 2014. The conference coincided with the opportunity for international and local innovative and conventional building systems to show case housing delivery solutions. Kavango Block Brick made use of the opportunity by exhibiting the Namibian born KBB building technology. KBB fitted in perfectly with the Housing INDABA theme, as the Minister is seriously promoting Innovative Building Technology, also known as IBT. Our exhibition theme for the two day conference was “Construction based on Rational Design secures the future of Construction”.

AFRICAN UNION HOUSING FINANCE (AUHF) CONFERENCE 17-19th OF NOVEMBER 2014

The 30th African Union Housing Finance (AUHF) conference was held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre South Africa between the 17th and 19th of November 2014. The conference was well attended by delegates from various housing finance corporations from across Africa. The theme of this year’s conference was to focus and show case various Innovative building technologies. Kavango Block Brick had an exhibition stand so that delegates attending the conference could learn more about the KBB building system.

KBB manufacturing Plant launch 14th of September 2011.

On the 14th of September 2011 the first of its kind semi automated Hydraulic block making manufacturing plant was launched in Windhoek – Namibia.  The plant serves as KBB’s flagship to showcase to the SADC region and the rest of the world the how the full range of KBB blocks are manufactured to accurate specifications.  The plant was inaugurated by the Honourable Minister of Trade and Industry (Namibia) – Dr. Hage Geingob.  Key note speakers included Dr. Jeffrey Mahachi of the NHBRC (South Africa) and Dr. Nickey Iyambo Minister of Veterans Affairs Namibia who serves in his private capacity as the Patron of Kavango Block Brick.
